Pensioners and industrial workers have extended their support to the nationwide strike proposed on February 16. Pensioners and industrial workers’ organisations will gather at Samvidhan Chowk in Nagpur to press for their demands.
The major demands include minimum wage of Rs 9000/- plus inflation allowance. This decision has been endorsed by all Central organisations consistently advocating timely wage revisions under the Minimum Wages Act, 1952. All the organisations have unanimously declared their support for the minimum wage law announced in 2018.
In solidarity with farmers and 93 percent of unorganised workers, the EPS-1995 National Coordination Committee for Retired Employees, based in Nagpur, is joining the nationwide strike. The demand for pension, based on the 7th Pay Commission recommendations, includes a pension of Rs 9,000 and dearness allowance to 75 lakh pensioners under EPS-95, stated Prakash Pathak, National General Secretary, EPS-1995 National Coordination Committee for Retired Employees, in a press release.
