In a positive development for sickle cell patients, Daga Hospital is opening an amniotic fluid testing center soon. Dr. Seema Parvekar, the Medical Superintendent of Daga Hospital disclosed that despite having allocated funds, the establishment of the testing center encountered delays.
Nevertheless, due to persistent efforts by the Sickle Cell Society of India (SCI), an appeal was made to the Maharashtra State Commission for Protection of Child Rights to accelerate the process.
During a recent hearing on February 7, the commission granted permission for the center to start its operations. Representing SCI before the commission were Jaya Ramteke, Neelkanth Pandey, Sanjeev Gajbhiye, and Priti Nagar. This development signifies a notable advancement in delivering improved care and assistance for sickle cell patients, highlighting the coordinated endeavors between medical institutions and advocacy groups.
