On Valentine’s Day, the city of Nagpur witnessed two tragic murders of men with criminal records, both stemming from disputes arising out of love affairs.
In the first incident, Suraj, also known as Bihari Amir Mahato, a 25-year-old man who had recently been released from Wardha jail after serving a two-year sentence, was brutally stabbed to death in Naik Nagar, under the jurisdiction of Ajni police station. The incident occurred in the afternoon, and the police swiftly apprehended three suspects: Vipin Rajkumar Gupta (26), Anil (26), and Vijay (27), all residents of the Naik Nagar area.
Gupta was romantically involved with a young woman who later ended the relationship and began seeing Bihari. This development led to tensions between Bihari and Gupta, with Bihari issuing warnings to Gupta to stay away from the woman. It is believed that Gupta, fueled by jealousy and anger, conspired with the other accused to attack Bihari.
The assailants ambushed Bihari while he was riding his motorbike. Despite his attempts to flee and seek refuge in a nearby house, the attackers caught up with him and mercilessly stabbed him to death.
In a separate incident, Abhishek alias Bhanja Sanjay Gulabe, a 23-year-old resident of Tandapeth with a criminal record, succumbed to his injuries early Wednesday morning while undergoing treatment at Mayo Hospital. Gulabe had been brutally attacked with sharp weapons on Sunday in the Panchpaoli area while attempting to mediate a dispute over a love affair.
The police promptly arrested three suspects in connection with Gulabe’s murder: Rohit Sunil Naharkar (28), Shyam Babu Kusere (30), and Rajkumar Lachalwar (20). Further investigations are ongoing to uncover the complete details surrounding the incident.
These two tragic incidents highlight the devastating consequences that can arise from disputes stemming from love affairs. The Nagpur police are actively investigating both cases to ensure justice for the victims and their families.
