Nagpur Police issued an order to step up QR code-based patrolling at around 2,000 places in the city to ensure increased police presence and surveillance. The initiative Starts in the backdrop of the spate of murders over the last few days.
This tech-based patrolling monitoring system, beat constables would be required to scan QR codes at designated places to register their presence at the control room. A centralized software would register the QR code scanned by the constables and record the response for senior officials to review. The system would project areas where patrolling has been poor and police presence low, which leads to risk of higher crime rate.
Though functional in the city since some time, the zone-wise QR code based patrolling had seen low response in the last few days. Singhal, a tech-savvy IPS officer, has made QR code based patrolling mandatory for city cops now.
