In response to the demands from orange growers and traders, Warud APMC has established the country’s first digital orange market. This initiative is anticipated to result in better rates for orange growers.
Amravati and Nagpur districts are renowned for their extensive orange cultivation; however, farmers are purportedly not receiving appropriate rates for their produce.
Additionally, the recent increase in import duty on fruits by the Bangladeshi Government has adversely affected farmers in the region. Considering these challenges, WARUD APMC has introduced the Digital Orange Market, where the pricing of oranges is determined based on the quality of the fruit.
Moreover, farmers receive payment within 24 hours of the sale. The oranges undergo a grading process using a machine, which sorts them according to their quality before being sold to local traders.
