Gruesome crimes in broad daylight view continue unabated in the Second Capital, contributing to a series of murders and violent assaults on innocent citizens. On Friday, yet another horrifying incident unfolded near ‘Dolly Ki Tapri,’ a roadside tea stall opposite VCA Stadium on Rabindranath Tagore Marg in Civil Lines. Four goons attacked several supporters of the accused arrested in connection with the high-profile murder of gangster Abhishek, alias Bhanja Sanjay Gulabe, using sharp-edged weapons.
One of the victims, identified as Sanjay, alias Golu Gagan Sinha, sustained severe back injuries and was promptly rushed to Mayo Hospital. The incident that shook the busy area took place when Pachpaoli Police had taken Rohit Sunil Naharkar (28), Shyam Babu Kusere (30), and Rajkumar Bandu Lachalwar (20), arrested for their involvement in Abhishek’s murder, to the magisterial court as their police custody remand ended on Friday. Subsequently, after the court remanded them to magisterial custody, the police were escorting them to Central Jail, during which some supporters of the accused were present in the Nyay Mandir premises to meet them.
Four to five goons, allegedly linked to the late Abhishek’s gang, attacked Rohit, Shyam, and Rajkumar with knives in full public view while they were returning home and fled the spot. Staff from Sadar Police Station rushed to the spot on being informed. Sanjay Sinha, who was seriously injured, was rushed to the hospital. Police launched a manhunt for the assailants. Pachpaoli Police had arrested Rohit, Shyam and Rajkumar, all residents of Panchkula, near Hanuman Mandir, Pachpaoli for killing Abhishek. Abhishek’s friend Dinesh alias Ganesh had a dispute with Rohit as he had an affair with a girl related to him. Abhishek and his friends went to meet Rohit near Panchkula Hanuman Mandir to settle the matter
Shyam and Rajkumar were present alongside Rohit when a verbal altercation ensued, leading to heated exchanges and abuses exchanged. Abhishek intervened to defuse the situation, but Rohit, Shyam, and Rajkumar attacked him with a sword, stones, and bricks, causing serious injuries. Abhishek was immediately taken to Samarpan Hospital and later transferred to Mayo Hospital, where he tragically passed away from his injuries. Despite police apprehending individuals involved in ten recent murder cases, criminal activity continues to thrive unchecked in the city. On Wednesday night, three hardened criminals, including one targeting a vulnerable elderly person, attempted to murder three innocent individuals on West High Court Road, Dharampeth, using sharp weapons. However, police could arrest only one of them while two others are still at large.
