Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Yavatmal on February 28 has sparked extensive preparations in the area. Initially planned for February 11, the PM’s previous visit had to be cancelled. Maharashtra Governor, Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and Union Ministers are expected to arrive in Yavatmal by February 27. Modi is slated to address a gathering of women’s self-help groups (SHGs) at Bhari village along the Yavatmal-Nagpur road. A large pandal spanning 40 acres is being erected for the occasion, with efforts underway to accommodate over one lakh SHG representatives. Collector Dr. Pankaj Ashiya and the entire administrative apparatus are working tirelessly to ensure the visit’s success.
A total of 30 committees have been formed, under the chairmanship of Collector Dr. Ashiya serving as the chairman of each. The State Government is set to release a program brochure in four languages: English, Marathi, Sanskrit, and Hindi. This marks Modi’s fourth visit to Yavatmal. Previously, he visited the district in 2004 during his tenure as Chief Minister of Gujarat, holding a public meeting at Postal Ground. Subsequently, on March 20, 2014, ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, he visited Dabhadi near Arni as the BJP candidate for the post of Prime Minister. Following his election, Modi attended a women’s self-help groups’ meeting in Pandharakawda before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
