“Citizens encounter many difficulties when traveling from the Bangladesh settlement in Central Nagpur due to two railway level crossings, resulting in wasted time. But soon, the troubles of people will be over as two sub- ways will be constructed to ensure uninterrupted movement,” said Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari during the groundbreaking ceremony for two subways.
Gadkari highlighted the rapid transformation of East, North, and Central Nagpur due to various infrastructure projects. Water scarcity has been alleviated, with 70 percent of Nagpur now receiving continuous water supply. Plans include beautifying Naik Lake with a musical fountain and constructing railway underpasses on the Kalamna route and from Naik Lake to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Garden, ensuring smooth travel without railway-related issues.
The Maharashtra Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (MRIDCL) is spearheading the execution of the project under the Setubandhan Yojana. The groundbreaking ceremony for the two subway lines took place at Tandapeth. Among the notable attendees were Vikas Kumbhare, MLA; Pravin Datke, MLC; Deepraj Pardikar, former Deputy Mayor; Rajesh Kumar Jaiswal, Managing Director of MahaRail; as well as members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Central Nagpur unit, including Shrikant Agalave, Rambhau Ambulkar, Vilas Trivedi, Sudhir Raut, Girish Deshmukh, Kishor Palandurkar, Abdul Qadeer, and Raju Dhakate.
