The Tehsil Police have recovered receipts from the CP Club indicating payments made by the woman driving the Mercedes involved in the accident that claimed the lives of two young people riding an Activa.
The mention of a 240 ml item on the bill has raised suspicions of alcohol consumption by the accused women.
On February 24th, near Ram Jhula on Central Avenue, a Mercedes with license plate number MH/49/AS/6111 collided with Activa rider Mohd Hussain Ghulam Mustafa (34) and Mohd Atik Mohd Jiya (32). Mustafa died after the incident at Awasthi Nagar Square.
The car was driven by Ritika, also known as Ritu Dinesh Malu (39), a resident of Deshpande Layout, with Madhuri Shishir Sarada (37), a resident of Vardhaman Nagar, as a passenger. Ritu was arrested by the Tehsil police, who filed a case against her. Ritu was later released on bail by the court.
The incident occurred as both women were returning from a party at the CP Club in Civil Lines, where their car was traveling at high speed.
Following the fatal collision, the Mercedes also damaged the walkway. Allegations of the women being intoxicated have been circulating since the incident began. The police collected blood samples and sent them for chemical analysis, awaiting the lab’s report.
Meanwhile, they visited the CP Club to question staff and seized the women’s receipts, which included a 240 ml item. The police have refrained from speculating whether this item refers to an alcoholic cocktail or a non-alcoholic mocktail, stating they will only comment after the lab presents its findings.
