In a latest development in he Ram-jhula road accident, medical reports indicate that accused Ritika, aka Ritu Dinesh Malu was driving the Mercedes car while under the influence of alcohol. The Tehsil Police will now amend the charges against accused in the accident that resulted in the deaths of two young men.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-III) Gorakh Bhamre confirmed that her blood alcohol concentration test came back positive. He stated that the police would make appropriate amendments to the charges.
The investigators had also obtained a bill from the CP Club which shed light on the events leading up to the accident. The bill revealed that two women had purchased a total of ‘240 ml’ of liquor.
Ritika alias Ritu Dinesh Malu (39), a resident of Deshpande Lay-out, and Madhuri Shishir Sarada (37), residing in Wardhaman Nagar, were in the Mercedes car when the accident occured. The duo was en route to Wardhaman Nagar in a car (MH-49/AS-6111) on Saturday midnight, with Ritu at the wheel. The victims, Mohd Hussain Ghulam Mustafa
(34) from Nalsaheb Chowk, Mominpura, and Mohd Atif Mohd Zia (32) from Awasthi Chowk, Jafar Nagar, tragically lost their lives when their moped (ΜΗ-37/Q-2948) was hit by the Mercedes. On the basis of the medical report of Ritu, possi- bility of police registering an offence under Section 304 (Culpable homicide not amounting to murder) against her cannot be ruled out.
