To bolster voter turnout in Lok Sabha elections and prevent any registered voter from missing out, individuals aged 80 and above, as well as those with disabilities, will be offered the opportunity to cast their votes from the comfort of their homes. To facilitate this, relevant polling officials will provide eligible voters with 12-D forms a week prior to election day. Subsequently, district election officers will coordinate the implementation of the initiative. This will entail making arrangements for voting at the residences of senior citizens and persons with disabilities, with the entire process being documented via video recording.
According to regulations, individuals unable to access polling centers due to disabilities, or those with disabilities exceeding 40%, will qualify for voting from their residences. Additionally, the voting process of persons with disabilities will be recorded on video. In Nagpur district, there are 18,215 individuals with disabilities, with 9,481 residing in the Nagpur Lok Sabha constituency and 8,734 in the Ramtek Lok Sabha constituency.
Of the 42,33,605 voters in Nagpur district, 1,17,708 are aged 80 years and above. South-West Nagpur constituency has the highest number of elderly voters (16,724), while Ramtek has the lowest (6,100).
Each appointed employee will visit the homes of eligible voters three times. If elderly or disabled voters ask for help, employees will be assigned according to the EC guidelines. Video documentation of the voting process will be ensured. Failure to locate the voter on three consecutive visits will result in forfeiture of their voting rights.
