Sonography, X-rays, CT scans, and MRIs are needed to diagnose illnesses. At the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), certain groups receive these tests at lower prices, which is a big help for general patients and the poor. About 600 free tests are performed here every day, providing substantial support.
Sonography and X-rays are conducted free of charge at sub-district, rural, and primary health centers. Additionally, individuals classified under various categories such as Below Poverty Line (BPL), veterans, freedom fighters, MLC, those with sickle cell SS pattern or thalassemia, Ashramshala students, destitute patients, and hospital personnel at Mayo and GMCH receive complimentary sonography, CT scans, and X-ray tests.
At GMCH, over 6,000 sonographies and more than 13,000 X-rays are conducted monthly. Additionally, CT scans and MRIs are also performed. GMCH conducts MRIs for fifteen to twenty patients daily, prioritizing those admitted to the ward or with critical conditions. Consequently, there is a waiting period of 15 to 20 days for normal patients to undergo MRI scans, while sonographies and CT scans typically entail a five to ten-day wait.
A plan has been put up to buy new sonography, MRI, and CT scan equipment for the Super Specialty Hospital, affiliated to the GMCH.
