The Nagpur Smart and Sustainable City Development Corporation Ltd (NSSCDCL) is all set to open a multi-story parking plaza in Sitabuldi, marking a significant advancement for Nagpur’s urban infrastructure.
The plaza, which is located in the center of Sitabuldi, is built at a cost of Rs 5 crore. It can hold at least 16 automobiles and 240 two-wheelers.
To streamline the parking facilities and manage the demand, a nominal fee will be levied as parking charges. The specific rates for both two and four-wheelers are slated to be determined in a joint meeting between NSSCDCL and the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC).
Sitabuldi has long grappled with encroachment problems, particularly from street vendors, resulting in chaotic situations. As a strategic response, the Smart City initiative proposed and implemented a solution by constructing a four-storey parking plaza on civic-owned land, costing Rs 5 crore. This initiative aims to not only address parking woes but also curb encroachment issues, creating a more organized and accessible urban environment.
In addition to the Sitabuldi project, the Smart City is concurrently developing a similar multi-storey parking plaza in Itwari’s Anaj Bazaar. With an estimated cost of Rs 5 crore, this upcoming facility is anticipated to accommodate at least 25 cars and 150 two-wheelers, further contributing to the city’s parking infrastructure.
