In a shocking incident on Sunday night, unknown assailants opened fire on a minibus carrying passengers returning from a pilgrimage to the shrine of Shri Sant Gajanan Maharaj in Shegaon, en route to Nagpur. The attack occurred on the Amravati-Nagpur National Highway near Shivangaon, resulting in four people sustaining injuries. The motive behind the attack remains unclear.
The group of tourists from Nagpur, traveling in Tempo Traveler MH 14/GD 6955, had visited Shegaon for pilgrimage purposes and began their return journey in the evening. As they traveled from Amravati to Nagpur, a Bolero vehicle overtook them between Shivangaon and the toll plaza and its occupants started firing at their vehicle, injuring the driver, Khomadev Kawade, and four others. The assailants fired four rounds before fleeing towards Morshi in their vehicle.
Despite his injuries, the driver managed to bring the minibus to a stop and promptly alerted the police. The injured were rushed to the hospital for treatment, and investigations are ongoing to determine the motive behind the attack. The police have launched a search operation to apprehend the assailants, who wore face masks during the attack.
