The swab samples of 87 workers of the Nagpur Regional Hatchery have been sent for laboratory tests. Bird Flu was detected in Nagpur’s hatchery on March 8. The area within a radius of one kilometer of the hatchery was declared Bird Flu infected. The Health Department of the State Government immediately swung into action.
Thousands of birds and eggs were destroyed. Health check-ups of the employees are also being carried out.
Meanwhile, the infected area which was within a one-kilometer radius has been extended to the area within a radius of 3 km. The authorities have appealed to the citizens not to panic, and a warning period of 21 days was declared. People in the region have been advised not to consume eggs and chicken for 21 days as a preventive measure.
The Public Health Department along with the Veterinary Department started an investigation and survey in the region. The picture will be clear within the next four to five days after the reports from the laboratory are received.
