Cinepolis, VR Mall will show the infomercials of Nagpur Police
Nagpur City Police in association with Prakruthi Trust, an NGO, hosted a special Women’s Day celebrationon Tuesday at the CP Office auditorium. Principles of fivecolleges and female volunteers from around the city were felicitated for their contribution towards the safety and well-being of women and children. On the dias on this occasion were, Dr Ravindra Singhal, Commissioner of Police, Nagpur,Aswati Dorje, Joint Commissioner of Police, Nagpur, Sanjay Patil, ACP Crime, Pramodkumar Shewale, ACP North, Dr Shivaji Rathod, ACP, South and Vasanti Betgar, AVP, Strategic Intervention, Prakruthi Trust.
“We are proud to organise thiscelebration that salutes thecontribution of theseladies towards creating a safer city.” said Dr Ravindra Singhal, Commissioner of Police, Nagpur, while addressing at this occasion. He emphasized on the need of community policing to make the city crime-free. “Suraksha Samitis and the YIU initiative are the force multipliers for Police Didis.” Said Aswati Dorje, Joint Commissioner of Police while highlighting the importance of awareness in women. Sanjay Patil, ACP Crime also spoke.
The awardees from city colleges, Dr Swati Dharmadhikari, Principle, Tirpude College of Social Work ; Dr Priya Raut, Principle, Datta Meghe Ayurvedic Medical College ; Rupa Varma, Principle, MKSSS’s SitabaiNargundkar College of Nursing and Dr Sharda Naidu, Principle, Ishwar Deshmukh College of Physical Education, Shilpa Sarod, LAD College & Smt. Ratnidevi Purohit College were felicitated by the top cops for the contribution in female safety under the Young India Unchaigned (YIU) initiative. YIU is an initiative going on in Nagpur since last two years under the joint aegis of Nagpur Police and Prakruthi Trust, an NGO. 30 Colleges in city have YIU clubs to mobilise youth for the cause of safety and crime prevention.
The awardees from the Suraksha Samitis, Minakshi Dhadade, Ambazari ; Shehnaz Sheikh, Hirvi Nagar, Vaishali Chowre, Jaripatka ; Alka Uike, Babulkheda were felicitated for their works in community policing. Bhagyashree Dubey, Divya Funde, Simran Yadav and Bharti Tirbude, the nursing students from MKSSS’s SitabaiNargundkar College of Nursing were felicitated for a life-saving rescue of a person in a recent medical emergency.Prakruthi Trust and Nagpur Police have initiated 50 Suraksha Samitis, the community policing groups, around the city to rope in aware citizens in community policing.
During this program, two infomercials (awareness videos) created by Nagpur City Police and Prakruthi Trust were screened. The videos recently unveiled by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will alert the minors about human trafficking, sexual abuse and educate them about cautious use of social media and role of Police Didis. A copy of these videos was given to Chetan Kumar Jadhav of Cinepolis, VR Mall, to add them as a part of movie screenings.
Nimish Goyal, DCP Crime, Chaya Gurav from CWC, Smt. Arpana Kolhe from DWCD, Dr Angha More, along with the personnels of City police’s Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU), Bharosa Cell, District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), One Stop Centre,principals and students from the colleges associated with the Youth India Unchained (YIU) initiativewere present. Asawari Deshpande compared the event and Ashwini Patil, DCP HQ proposed a vote of thanks.
