Vidarbha Taxpayers Association (VTA) dispatched letter of welcome and thanks to Narendra Modi – Prime Minister and Amit Shah – Union Home Minister for enacting Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 (CAA), which was passed by Parliament in 2019, and has been notified by the Union Home Ministry recently.
Welcoming the CAA, Shrawankumar Malu – president of VTA said, now this act will make nationals of Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh belonging to Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi and Christian communities, who migrated to India before December 31, 2014, to escape religious persecution, and are now eligible to apply for Indian citizenship.
Tejinder Singh Renu – secretary of VTA said that CAA is a law to give citizenship and not a law to take away anyone’s citizenship. Many miss this simple and fundamental logic behind CAA and trigger panic in the society. The Home Ministry through local police should keep a close watch on anyone again misleading citizens over CAA and should be immediately booked under relevant acts for causing disturbance and causing harm to the peace & harmony of the nation.
Vidarbha Taxpayers Association (VTA) unanimously welcomes implementation of CAA and requests intellectuals in the society to guide citizens in the true spirit of the Act, so that no community again gets misled and causes disturbances. This Act will benefit thousands of non-muslims who came from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh due to atrocities being faced by them based on religion.
