Shri Ganesh Mandir Tekdi committee Shriram The state government has elevated the status of Shri Ganesh Mandir Tekdi to an ‘A’ grade pilgrimage centre from C’, following the issuance of a Government Resolution (GR) on Monday.
The decision marks the fulfillment of a long-pending demand, supported by various stakeholders including the Advisory Society of the temple.
The government had on December 12, 2005, designated Tekdi Ganesh temple as a ‘C’ class pilgrimage centre.
The Nagpur Municipal later, the temple’s upgrade to ‘A’ grade became a prominent demand, aligning with similar requests for Deekshabhoomi and Tajabad in 2013.
Although various memoranda were issued to the government demanding status upgrade for the temple over the vears, the government would every time point out certain discrepancies in ful- filling the demand.
However; renewed efforts led by local leaders and officials, including then collector Sachin Kurve, finally led to the submission of a fresh proposal to the prin- cipal secretary of state tour- ism and cultural affairs department on March 17, 2018. Corporation (NMC) would execute the proposal once the architect informs about the requirements and submit the proposal to planning and other concerned department.
Notably, the temple committee is worried about the parking issue as one acre of defence land is located next to the premises of the temple. “As per our talks with the defence officials, the cost of the said land is 732 crore. Hence, they asked us to either acquire that land by paying the amount or provide them (defence authorities) an equal portion of land somewhere else,” Kulkarni said.
