The Maharashtra cabinet, headed by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, has announced its decision to rename Ahmednagar district as Ahilya Nagar, making it the third district in the state to undergo a name change.
This declaration was made on Wednesday, March 13. Last year, Aurangabad was officially renamed Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, and Osmanabad Revenue Division was changed to Dharashiv Revenue Divisions.
Last year, Osmanabad Revenue Division was renamed Dharashiv Revenue Divisions. Additionally, plans are underway to change the British-era names of eight Mumbai Railway Stations.
