To achieve the goal of building a ‘Developed and Atmanirbhar Bharat’ as per the vision of Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, KVIC distributed high quality toolkits to the artisans of Maharashtra here today. In the distribution program organized at Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), Nagpur, Shri Manoj Kumar, Chairman Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), distributed 720 machinery and toolkits to 320 artisans and certificates to 60 trainees under the Gram Udyog Vikas Yojana.
During the tool kit distribution programme 150 potter’s wheel were distributed to the 150 pottery artisans of Nagpur, Gondia, Gadhchirauli, Yawatmal, Amrawati, Akola, and Buldhana districts ,500 bee boxes to 50 beneficiaries, 150 electric potter wheels to 150 artisans, 20 turn wood craft toolkits, 20 waste wood craft toolkits, , Electrician Tools to 20 artisans, 04 Paper Plates & Dona making machine to 20 artisans, 04 Village Oil making machine to 20 artisans were distribute. Addressing the beneficiaries, Chairman Shri Manoj Kumar said that under the able guidance of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, KVIC has so far distributed electric wheel to more than 27 thousand potter brothers and sisters, which has brought a significant change in the lives of more than 1 lakh potters. Under this scheme, more than 6000 toolkits and machinery Under the Village Industries Development Scheme have been distributed, while under the Honey Mission Scheme, more than 2 lakh honey bee-boxes and bee colonies have been distributed to 20,000 beneficiaries.
Reiterating on immense support of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, he opined that the ‘New Khadi of New India’ with the ‘Guarantee of Modi Government’ has given a new direction to the ‘Self-reliant and Viksit Bharat Abhiyan ‘. The sector has witnessed four-fold increase in sales of Khadi products in the last 9 years which has economically enriched the artisans of rural India, he added.
In his presidential address, Shri Manoj Kumar emphasized that the guarantees of the Modi government have made Khadi and village industry products popular globally. His mission promotion, ‘Naye Bharat ki Nayi khadi’ has given a new direction to the ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat Campaign’, as a result of which, the sales of Khadi products have registered more than four times during this period. He further informed that the increase in remuneration of artisans by more than 233 has attracted the artisans towards Khadi work. On this occasion, KVIC Chairman Shri Manoj Kumar said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s ‘Vocal for Local’ and ‘Make in India’ mantras have made Khadi popular among the youth. His interest in promotion of khadi has raised the turnover of Khadi and village industry products to Rs.1.34 lakh crore, while during this period more than 9.50 lakh new employments have been generated.
He further added that in Maharashtra, there are 33 Khadi institutions under which 1400 Khadi artisans are getting employment. Under the Village Industries Development Scheme, high quality skill training has been done in the last three years. Provided 700 electric machines to seven potters, which has improved their living standards and income has increased
Shri Manoj Kumar said that Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s mantra of ‘Vocal for Local’ and ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ has given recognition to Khadi on the global platform. He said that ‘guarantee of Modi government’, artisans have been equipped with training and tools across various domains such as Beekeeping, Pottery, Agarbatti making, and more. Additionally, over 6,700 unemployed youth have undergone skill development training to generate self-employment opportunities in traditional industries. In the last 10 years, Khadi and the turnover of village industrial products has crossed the figure of Rs 1.34 lakh crore, while during this period, more than 9.50 lakh new people got employment.
In the distribution programme, representatives of Khadi institutions, Khadi workers and artisans, beneficiaries of Gramodyog Vikas Yojana and PMEGP, SFURTI Schemes including representatives of banks, officers and employees of KVIC, KVIB and Maharashtra Government were present.
