The Election Commission of India issued the notification on Wednesday for the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections, which will take place on April 19.
The ECI informed that the deadline for filing nominations in Bihar is March 28 and March 27 in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Jammu and Kashmir, Lakshadweep, and Puducherry. Bihar’s nominees will be scrutinised on March 30, and others on March 28.
According to the ECI’s notification, the deadline for withdrawing candidatures in Bihar is April 2, while for others, it is March 30.
This phase will include elections for 102 Lok Sabha seats in 17 states and four union territories, with all parliamentary constituencies concluded by June 6. The first phase of elections will take place in 39 seats in Tamil Nadu, 12 in Rajasthan, 8 in Uttar Pradesh, and 6 in Madhya Pradesh.
Along with them, there are 5 seats in Uttarakhand, Assam, and Maharashtra, 4 seats in Bihar, 3 in West Bengal, 2 in Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, and Meghalaya, and 1 seat in Chattisgarh, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura, Andaman, and the Nicobar Islands. J&K, Lakshadweep, and Puducherry will also have elections on April 19.
From April 19 to June 1, polls will be held in seven phases around the country. Votes will be counted on June 4.
