Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Republican Party (A) leader Ramdas Athawale survived in a major accident in Wai in the Satara district of Maharashtra. His car hit a container after the container applied brakes suddenly.
Athawale was going to Mumbai from Satara when the accident occurred. The front portion of the car was completely crushed, He, however, is said to be safe. He left for Mumbai in another car.
Athawale was in Satara to attend a programme to commemorate the historical event related to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar’s agitation on allowing access to Dalits to the water of a lake in Mahad. After attending the programme Athawale went to Mahabaleshwar to attend a meeting and stayed there. He left for Mumbai on Thursday.
Two containers had stopped as a vehicle was stranded near a tunnel in Khandala. The tyre of the vehicle got punctured near the tunnel. Fortunately, none of those in the car received injuries.
