In Nagpur city, Section 144 has been enforced until March 31st, amidst the observance of Holi during the election code of conduct. Deputy Police Commissioner Ashwati Dorje issued orders to implement Section 144 in the city from Sunday onwards, in view of the Holi festival celebrations. The order came into effect from Friday night at 12:00 a.m. and will remain in force until March 31st at midnight.
The order clearly states that Section 144 has been imposed in the city on March 24th for Holika Dahan, March 25th for Dhulandi, and March 30th for Rangpanchami. Additionally, strict adherence to the election code of conduct will be followed. During this period, caution must be exercised by residents in residential areas during Holika Dahan. There is a strict ban on burning Holi near railway tracks. Severe penalties are imposed for throwing colors or water-filled balloons. Furthermore, contentious posters are not allowed in temples, religious places, and other public areas. Restrictions are also imposed on shouting slogans. Moreover, playing loud music beyond the permissible noise levels is prohibited. Any use of religion or religious symbols during this period will be subject to strict legal action.
