Congress MLA from Umrer, Raju Parve, has joined Shiv Sena led by Shinde and may be fielded from the Ramtek Lok Sabha seat.
Parve, who represented the Umred constituency, resigned from his party and joined Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena in Mumbai on Sunday.
Sources suggest that he is likely to contest from the reserved Ramtek constituency as a Shiv Sena candidate, opposing Congress candidate Rashmi Barve. Ramtek is scheduled for polling in the first phase on April 19.
Parve formally joined Shiv Sena at ‘Varsha,’ the official residence of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, in the presence of Deputy CMs Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar.
In the 2019 assembly elections, Parve won the Umred seat in Nagpur district on a Congress ticket.
Notably, Ramtek Lok Sabha constituency is among the few seats that both Shiv Sena, led by Shinde, and BJP have staked claims for in the 2024 polls.
This constituency, located in Nagpur district, was won by Shiv Sena (undivided) in the 1999, 2004, 2014, and 2019 elections.
