In the early afternoon of Sunday, March 10, 2024, a light magnitude 2.7 earthquake struck approximately 16.3 km (10 mi) away from Umred, Nagpur, Maharashtra. The earthquake occurred at 3:15 PM and had a very shallow depth of 5 km (3.1 mi).
According to Volcano Discovery, the closest larger town where the quake might have been felt is Kalmeshwar, a town with 19,000 inhabitants in Nagpur, located 19.4 km (12 mi) north of the epicenter. However, the earthquake was not felt, or at least not reported as such.
