Appeal to pay pending bills
Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has intensified its drive for recovery of pending electric bills. MSEDCL has appealed to consumers to pay the bills in time to avoid power supply cuts.
To recover the dues of Rs 70.54 crores with domestic, commercial and industrial consumers, the power supply of 2,500 consumers was cut during the last 25 days, informs a press note issued by MSEDCL Nagpur Circle Chief Engineer Dilip Dodke.
MSEDCL is suffering because of the huge pendency of bills. The company is compelled to take harsh steps for the recovery of dues. Most of the consumers against whom action was taken have dues over Rs 5,000. A special squad has been formed for the inspection of power supply connections. An offence of power theft will be registered if a consumer has connected to a neighbour’s supply line after his connection is severed. Those who are allowing such a connection will also face action.
