Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, will stay with the Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody for four more days in the alleged liquor policy scam case. Now, Kejriwal will remain in the agency’s custody until April 1, following a request from the financial crimes investigative body, which initially sought a seven-day extension.
The agency alleges that the AAP used bribe money during the Goa elections. In court, the Chief Minister directly accused the ED of trying to demolish his party. He emphasized that no court has found him guilty and criticized what he called flimsy reasons for arresting a sitting Chief Minister.
Kejriwal has been in the custody of the ED’s Delhi office since his arrest on March 15 regarding the alleged liquor policy scam. His custody with the probe agency has been extended until April 1.
The ED stated, “Arvind Kejriwal has engaged prominent lawyers for the hearing, a privilege not available to everyone. If someone’s statement has been taken under pressure then it is a matter related to the trial. We possess strong evidence that Arvind Kejriwal had asked for a bribe of Rs 100 crore.”
