In a bid to empower micro-entrepreneurship and foster economic independence among underprivileged girls, the Manaswini Foundation organized a Block Printing Workshop at Bhide Girls’ School & Junior College, Nagpur.
The aim was to equip individuals, especially girls, with essential skills in block printing, a traditional art form with contemporary applications. Participants learned the intricate techniques involved in block printing, from designing patterns to mastering the printing process.
The initiative comes as a collaboration between the Manaswini Foundation, with support from L.A.D College’s Textile Department, Nagpur. Dr. Vandana Menon and Ms. Rakshata Mankar guided the students.
It aligns with the mission to promote sustainable livelihoods and economic self-sufficiency within marginalized communities.Block printing holds immense potential for micro-entrepreneurship, offering opportunities for individuals to start their small businesses and generate income from their homes.
By imparting these skills, the workshop aims to unleash the creative potential of participants and enable them to carve out their path towards financial independence.
“We believe that investing in skill development is key to unlocking opportunities for economic empowerment,” said Neelam Bowade, founder of Manaswini. “Through this workshop, we aim to empower individuals with the knowledge and tools they need to thrive in the burgeoning field of block printing.
After the workshop Sanitary pads were distributed to all girl students and Suman Dass gave information on “ Importance of menstrual hygiene“. Principal Bhide school ms Archana Gadikar, Mendulkar, Indrani Roy choudhary were also present. The workshop ended on a positive note.
