The employees on Election Duty will be provided cashless services at the nearest hospital if they face any health-related issues during the election duty. Nagpur District Collector Dr Vipin Itankar issued instructions to the Health Department to make arrangements for providing the services. The instructions have been issued as the polling will be held on April 19, a season of extreme heat in the region. The arrangements will be made in Nagpur and Ramtek Lok Sabha constituencies.
Dr Itankar held a meeting to review the preparations for the coming elections. Zilla Parishad CEO Saumya Sharma, Ramtek Election Officer Tushar Thombre, and senior officers from the departments concerned attended the meeting.
Besides making arrangements for health services, Dr Itankar also issued instructions related to the availability of drinking water, seating arrangements for voters in queues by erecting pandals of in vacant rooms at the polling booths etc.
Dr Itankar also said that action will be initiated against officers who refuse to release employees selected for election duties, under the People’s Representatives Act 1951.
For Disabled voters: Wheel Chairs for Persons with Disabilities will be available at all the polling booths. Instructions to this effect have already been given to the Department of Social Justice and Special Assistance. Under the Wheel Chair on Wheels, the District Election Office will make available them, where the facility is not available.
