Met office predicts rain, hailstorm
Clouds hover over the proposed public meeting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Kanhan on the border of Nagpur and Ramtek Lok Sabha constituency on Wednesday. Nagpur was battered by heavy showers and strong wind on Tuesday late evening. The Regional Meteorological Department has predicted hailstorms in the Vidarbha region for the next three days.
Modi is scheduled to address the public meeting at 5 pm. This is Modi’s first election meeting in Nagpur during the last ten years. He addressed people in Nagpur on different occasions, but not during elections. BJP’s Nagpur candidate Nitin Gadkari and Raju Parve of Shiv Sena from Ramtek are in the fray.
MLA Parve left Congress and joined Shiv Sena days before the announcement of elections. He was fielded by Shiv Sena from Ramtek leaving aside sitting MP Krupal Tumane.
BJP candidates from Bhandara-Gondi Sunil Mendhe will also remain present for the election rally.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, State Unit Chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Krupal Tumane besides Gadkari and Parve will attend the meeting at Kanhan.
