The Election Commission of India has provided the facility of voting at home to citizens above 85 years of age and citizens with more than 40 percent disability. Home voting started in Nagpur East Assembly constituency in the district from April 14.
Senior citizen Vasant Dhomne, resident of Diamond Nagar of Nagpur East Assembly constituency, exercised the right to vote at home for the first time. Assistant Election Decision Officer of Nagpur East Assembly constituency Chandrabhan Khandait, Zonal Officer Rajurkar, Central President Mangala Gangare, BLO Vandana Tripaka were present on this occasion.
To give the benefit of voting to senior citizens above 85 years of age and Divyangjan, a total of 2 thousand 360 voters of Nagpur and Ramtek Lok Sabha constituency will exercise their voting by staying at home during the period from 14 to 17 April.
160 teams have been formed for Nagpur by the Election Department, which include 480 officers and employees. 105 teams have been formed for Ramtek Lok Sabha constituency, which include 315 officers and employees.
Through the District Election Department, the concerned officers and employees have been instructed to ensure that the voter’s privacy is not violated in any way.
