Nagpur is preparing for Ram Navami celebrations this Wednesday. To facilitate the Ram Navami processions scheduled for today in the city without interruptions, the Nagpur traffic police have imposed restrictions on vehicle movement in various areas, including the central and western parts of the city.
As per the advisory released by the Nagpur Traffic Police, the first procession is organised by Shree Ramjanmotsav Shobhayatra Samiti. It will start from Shree Poddareshwar Mandir.
All vehicles are prohibited in the Shree Poddareshwar Mandir premises. The restrictions will be implemented from 4.30 pm until the procession ends.
Procession Routes
The grand procession will start from Mayo Hospital Square, traversing through significant landmarks including Tilak Statue, Ganesh Mandir turning, Agyaram Devi Chowk, Bhagwagar Chowk, Nalsaheb Chowk, Ganjakhet Chowk, Shahid Chowk, Tonga Stand, Badkas Chowk, Gita Mandir, Cotton Market Square, Iron Bridge, Anand Talkies, Mahal Gandhi Gate, Munje Chowk, Rani Jhansi Square, Variety Square, Sitabuldi Main Road, Jaistambh, and Ram Jhula, before concluding its journey at Shree Poddareshwar Ram Mandir.
Traffic Diversions
Due to traffic congestion, the traffic police will redirect traffic from Mayo Hospital Square and Dosar Bhavan Chowk to LIC Square or Shree Mohini Y-point. Vehicles heading from Cotton Market Square to Guard Lines will be diverted via Manas Chowk. Traffic from Bajeriya to Central Avenue will be rerouted towards Santra Market and Bhaldarpura. Heavy vehicles are prohibited on Central Avenue from 2 pm until the end of the procession.
The Pashchim Nagpur Nagarik Sangh is organizing another procession, it will begin at 5 p.m. from Shree Ram Mandir in Ram Nagar. This procession will wind its way through various squares and routes, including Ravi Nagar Square, Ram Nagar Square, Gokulpeth Market, Coffee House Square, among others.
For drivers heading towards Ram Nagar Square from Ravi Nagar, detour signs at Gokulpeth Market are in place, and similar alterations apply for those traveling from Shankar Nagar to Ram Nagar via Gokulpeth Market and Coffee House Square. Upon reaching Laxmi Bhavan Square, drivers from Shankar Nagar Square will detour at Batukbhai Jewellers Square, while those from Law College Square will be diverted at Coffee House Square.
Traveling from Sitabuldi to various parts of east and central Nagpur using the Aapli Bus service in the evening will be challenging due to the procession. Buses will need to take alternative routes, as confirmed by a representative from the NMC’s transport wing.
