Sources indicate that the Ministry of Education has tasked the CBSE with arranging logistics for conducting board exams twice annually starting from the 2025-26 academic session.
They said that the proposal to implement a semester system has been dismissed.
According to the sources, the ministry and the CBSE will hold consultations with school principals next month for conducting board exams twice a year.
The CBSE is presently in the process of working out the specifics of how the academic calendar will be organized to accommodate an additional set of board exams, ensuring no disruption to the undergraduate admission schedule.
A source mentioned that the ministry has tasked the CBSE to work on the logistics for conducting board exams twice annually. The board is currently strategizing the details, with a consultation planned next month involving school principals.
“The proposal under consideration involves conducting two editions of the board exams at the end of each academic year from 2025-26 session,” the source added.
