The Special Judge for CBI Cases, Nagpur has sentenced Bipin Jambholkar, Scientific Cadre Officer- Grade-A, the then Scientist-C (Lot Cell), Nodal Officer, Enforcement and Legal Activities, Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), to 05 years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs.1.10 lakh in a bribery case.
CBI had registered a case on 09.03.2015 against Shri Bipin Jambholkar, Scientific Cadre Officer- Grade-A, then Scientist-C (Lot Cell), Nodal Officer, Enforcement and Legal Activities, Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Nagpur, on allegations that said accused demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs.15,000/- for not going in appeal against the acquittal of the complainant as per order dated 20.12.2014 of Judicial Magistrate, Ist Class, Wardha.
After investigation, CBI had filed chargesheet on 26.02.2016 against accused. The Court, after trial, found the accused guilty and sentenced him accordingly. 15 Witnesses were examined and 91 documents were exhibited by the Prosecution during trial, which stood test of trial resulting in conviction of the accused.
