The presentation of Powada singing and Kathak dance left the audience spellbound.
The joint celebration of “Maharashtra Day” and “International Dance Day” was organized by the South Central Cultural Center, Nagpur, and the Ministry of Culture, Government of India on May 1, 2024. The inauguration of the program was marked by the ceremonial lighting of lamps by Kathak Guru Shri Madan Pandey and Kathak Guru Shrimati Lalita Hardas. Officials from the South Central Cultural Center, Nagpur, including Assistant Director (Program), Mr. Deepak Kulkarni, Administrative and Finance Officer Mr. Deepak Patil, and Assistant Mr. Rajesh Khadse were present at the occasion.
The festivities began with a soul-stirring presentation of “Powada singing,” which illuminated the life and contributions of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. This presentation, a tribute to Maharashtra’s rich history, was brought to life by Shahir Ninad Bagade, Vaibhav Cultural Arts Mandal, Nagpur, and the group.
Continuing the celebration, the audience was treated to a captivating presentation titled “Nritya Ninad” in honor of International Dance Day. The program commenced with a mesmerizing performance of Ganesh Vandana by artists from Nritya Bela Foundation, followed by enchanting presentations of Shiv Panchakshar Stotra and Mahakali Stavan.
The highlight of the evening was a solo Kathak dance performance by renowned dancer Shriya Popat, who enthralled the audience with her exquisite renditions of Jhaptaal, Natraj Stuti, and Krishna Bhajan. Shriya Popat, trained under the eminent music guru ‘Nritya Yogi’ Acharya Pandit Anupam Ray, showcased the true essence of Kathak dance.
Adding to the vibrancy of the event, students from Swapnapurti Art Center showcased their talent with captivating performances, followed by a mesmerizing Kathak dance presentation by artists from Geetanjali Cultural Center.
The seamless coordination of the program was managed by Madhyadakshini Muktagan “Abhivyakti Sanskritik Katta,” under the supervision of Mr. Ravi Satphale from Swarved Foundation.
The event was attended by a large number of enthusiasts who thoroughly enjoyed the programme.
