In a bid to control the summer rush in trains, Indian Railways is operating about 58 special trains on different routes for the convenience of passengers.
These trains will be connecting cities like Visakhapatnam, Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Patna, Hatia, Raxaul, Chapra, Jabalpur, Madurai etc and also major cities of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra falling under South East Central Railway (SECR) jurisdiction. During the months of April-June, when sum- mer holidays begin, it is also the time of marriages and festivals.
In such a situation volume of passengers multiply in trains and at platforms. Keeping this in view, Indian Railways workin a planned manner for the convenience of passengers like augmenting trains with additional coaches to provide maximum confirmed berthsand also operatingspecial trains on vital routes. To extend further benefits to passengers, the SECR has extended both the Durg-Chhapra-Durg and Durg-Patna-DurgSummer Special Express trains up to Gondia station. With the extension of these trains, the people of Chhattisgarh and Maharastra will get direct connectivity to major cities of North India. Besides the passengers of Durg, Rajnandgaon and Dongargarh will also get the facility of
additional trains to commute to Gondia. In addition to this SECR provided a Summer Special Express facility for nine trips between
Bilaspur-Yaswantpur-Bilaspur from April 30. With the commencement of this train, people of Bilaspur, Bhatapara,
Raipur, Durg, Rajnandgaon, Dongargarhand Gondia will get the facility of an additional train to travel towards South India. Railway administration has planned to operate 48 special trains to provide relief from crowding in trains in the month of May. This facility will be expanded further
during summer vacations.
