The global sportswear giant Adidas and official sponsor of the Indian cricket team’s kit, unveiled the new T20I jersey for the senior men’s team on Monday. The unveiling took place at Dharamsala, with the event documented in a video shared on social media. The footage featured India’s captain Rohit Sharma, along with Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav, witnessing a spectacular presentation of the new Indian jersey soaring above the iconic HPCA Stadium.
The freshly unveiled kit, showcased in the video, boasts a healthy blend of blue and orange. Notably, the shirt features orange shoulders, with the remaining part in blue. Additionally, two parallel orange stripes run towards the waist. The signature three Adidas stripes are prominently displayed in white on the new Indian T20I jersey. Furthermore, a tricolored stripe adorns the collar of the shirt, adding a patriotic touch to the design.
The unveiling of the new jersey by Adidas raises speculation on whether India will don the orange and blue attire in the upcoming T20 World Cup. With the tournament commencing on June 2 across venues in the USA and the West Indies, the timing of this revelation hints at the possibility of Rohit Sharma and his team sporting the fresh kit during the prestigious event.
Adidas took over as India’s official kit sponsor in May 2023. Last year, the renowned sportswear brand designed the attire for both the World Test Championship final and the ODI World Cup. The jersey created for the ODI World Cup garnered immense popularity among fans, with a notable increase in shirt sales observed ahead of the tournament, especially noteworthy as India served as the host nation.
Meanwhile, fans also shared photos of the rumoured new kit on social media as speculation about the T20 World Cup jersey intensified in the lead-up to the tournament.
Since becoming the kit sponsors, Adidas has adopted creative methods to unveil India’s kits. Last year, they introduced the first set of India’s Test, ODI, and T20I jerseys at the Wankhede Stadium.
