With the completion of the third phase of parliamentary elections, elections for Maharashtra Legislative Council have been announced. The elections for four seats of the Legislative Council will be held on June 10. The term of four Members of the Legislative Council (MLCs) from Mumbai, Nashik, and Konkan region will end on July 7.
Voting for the two seats each from the graduates constituency and teachers constituency will be held on June 10. The Legislative Council has seven seats for teachers representatives and seven candidates are elected by the registered graduates. Two seats from both constituencies will fall vacant on July 7. Voting for the seats will be held on June 10 and counting of votes will be done on June 13.
Those completing the terms are Vilas Vinayak Potnis (Shiv Sena Thakeray Group), from Mumbai Graduates constituency; Niranjan Vasant Davkhare (BJ), from Konkan Graduates Constituency; Kishor Bhikaji Darade (Shiv Sena Thackeray Group) from Nashik Teachers Constituency, and Kapil Harishchandra Patil (Lokbharati) from Mumbai Teachers Constituency.
The election process will start on May 15. The last date for submission of nomination form is May 22. Scrutiny of the nomination forms will be carried out on May 24. The last date of withdrawal of nomination is May 27 and polling on June 10 and counting of votes on June 13.
