In the midst of Mother’s Day celebrations, a tragic incident unfolded, casting a shadow of grief over a mother’s joy. Near Santra Market in Chandshahar, on Sunday morning, a three-year-old child, playing near their home, was struck by a reversing vehicle. Despite the frantic efforts of the mother, the child’s life slipped away, leaving a heartbreaking scene of despair.
Identified as Adi, also known as Gandhi, the child became the unfortunate victim of the accident. Sajeet Malakar (28), originally from Chandrapur and residing with relatives in Santra Market, had arrived in Nagpur two months prior in search of employment. As Adi played nearby on Sunday morning, tragedy struck when a woman lost control of her vehicle, striking the child.
The mother rushed Adi to the hospital, pleading for assistance from bystanders. However, the driver fled the scene, leaving behind a distraught family and a community in shock. Authorities were promptly notified of the accident, leading to the filing of a case against the unidentified driver by the Ganeshpeth police.
The incident was captured on CCTV camera. As the woman driver was involved in the accident, she fled the scene after seeing the child struck. The police are searching for her. The father of the deceased child has gone to Odisha for work-related investigations. He has been informed about the child’s death and is currently on his way back. As it will take 24 hours for him to reach Nagpur, relatives of the child had requested authorities at the Mayo Hospital to keep the body in the morgue. However, the Mayo Hospital allegedly refused. The uncle of the deceased child, Rohit, has accused the Mayo Hospital of denial.
