In a significant stride towards promoting electric vehicle (EV) adoption, Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL), serving as the nodal agency, has led the establishment of 65 electric vehicle charging stations across Nagpur circle.
A recent press release highlighted the strategic placement of these stations, with six located within Nagpur city and 53 spread across Nagpur district. Additionally, six private charging hubs have been deployed in Wardha district, reflecting the increasing demand for EV charging services.
MSEDCL has strategically positioned charging stations at key locations, including 33 KV substations in prominent divisions like Kalmana, Mayo, Model Mill, Nara, MRS, and Bijlinagar. Collaboration with industry giants such as Bharat Petroleum, Hindustan Petroleum, Tata Power, Reliance BP Mobility, among others, has further enhanced the accessibility of EV charging facilities across the state.
To streamline access, MSEDCL introduced the user-friendly ‘Powerup EV’ mobile application, empowering motorists to easily locate the nearest charging station, thereby facilitating seamless electric vehicle charging experiences.
The press release emphasized the economic advantage of EVs, citing a mere 56 paise per kilometer cost for electric two-wheelers compared to petrol’s Rs 2.14, and Rs. 1.55 for electric four-wheelers against petrol’s Rs 7.60. This underscores the undeniable economic benefits of electric vehicles.
