Ganeshpeth Police have launched an investigation into an alleged fraud involving the manager of Nagpur’s famous Ram Cooler. Reportedly, the manager, along with a client of the company, set up a bogus bank account in the company’s name. This account was then purportedly used to scam individuals, resulting in losses of approximately Rs 20 lakh between May 2022 and February 2024, as police revealed on Tuesday.
As per police reports, Sudhir Devidas Chaubey (34), residing in Surendragad, Seminary Hills, was employed as the manager at Ram Cooler. During the period from 2022 to 2024, Chaubey, along with Aayub Rakesh Bansal (35) and Kamal Kumar Singhal (59), residents of Jaipur, Rajasthan, and Shailesh Agrawal (38) from Raipur, Chhattisgarh, allegedly created a fake bank account for Ram Coolers using forged documents.
All the accused then used this fake account to deposit cheques and dupe the firm of Rs 20 lakh.
When the complainant and Ram Cooler director Rakesh Suryabhan Avachat (50), residing in Navin Shukrawari, inquired about the fraud to Chaubey, he reportedly threatened him with dire consequences and stopped coming to work.
After this incident, Avachat lodged a complaint at Ganeshpeth Police Station. An offense under Sections 408, 420, 504, 506, and 34 of the IPC has been registered. Further investigation is underway.
