In a significant development, commuters along the Nagpur-Delhi railway line between Godhani and Bokhara can anticipate smoother journeys ahead. The completion of the railway over-bridge (ROB) at gate LC 593 is imminent, with only lighting installation pending. According to the Maharashtra Railway Infrastructure Development Corporation (MRIDC), the bridge is set to be operational by the month’s end.
Originally scheduled for construction commencement in May 2022, delays arose due to the diversion of the old road. Construction finally commenced in June 2022, culminating in the 445-meter-long bridge. However, a prolonged hiatus ensued during the girder launch over the railway track, leading to a five-month delay from the initially projected December 2023 opening.
The significance of this infrastructure project extends beyond alleviating railway crossing delays. Godhani is slated to become a terminal station, attracting more trains and passengers. Consequently, the bridge’s utilization is expected to soar. Moreover, residents along the Outer Ring Road stand to benefit, as the bridge facilitates easier access.
However, concerns loom regarding increased traffic on connecting roads. Encroachments along routes from Godhani Road to Zingab Takli and Jafar Nagar must be addressed promptly to mitigate potential accidents.
Stay tuned for further updates as the region anticipates improved connectivity and safety measures with the impending bridge inauguration.
