Sitabuldi Police arrested three individuals, one of whom is the brother of a policeman, for their alleged an extortion attempt at a food stall.
The arrested accused have been identified as Somnath Raju Jadhav (27), residing in Seva Sadan Nagar, Manewada; Chetan Pramod Gokhale (23), a resident of Sawarbandhe Layout, Hudkeshwar; and Ajay Dina Jhole (25), who resides in Barasignal, Imambada. Somnath’s brother is in the police force, and both Somnath and Chetan are known to have a history of criminal behavior.
Somnath has a record of criminal activity, which involves a prior attempt to open a firearm at Ajni Police personnel. This incident occurred on May 8, when Somnath and his companions visited a food stall managed by Mohammad Shakib Mohammad Shabbir (50), who resides in Mohan Nagar, situated opposite the railway station.
The accused demanded a ransom from Shakib, but he refused to comply. Subsequently, Somnath and his cohorts assaulted Shakib and caused damage to his property. Sitabuldi Police intervened and arrested them.
Under the direction of Deputy Commissioner of Police Zone II Rahul Madne, the arrest was executed by Senior Police Inspector Asaram Chormale, along with Assistant Police Inspectors Santosh Kadam, and Police Sub-Inspectors Tiwari, Ganesh, Sushant, Atmaram, and other law enforcement personnel.
