The Government Railway Police (GRP) in Nagpur arrested five individuals from West Bengal and two from Pune, including one woman, for involvement in a fake currency note operation.
As per a report, Lakhfar Mondal, hailing from Murshidabad in West Bengal, attempted to buy a food packet on Platform Number One of Nagpur Railway Station in early April using a fake currency note of Rs 500 note.
Mondal attempted to flee with Rs 450 in change provided by the vendor, who exchanged the counterfeit Rs 500 note for the Rs 50 food purchase.
The vendor nabbed Mondal and turned him over to the Railway Protection Force (RPF), who then handed him to the GRP. Subsequently, under the leadership of SP Akshay Shinde and Senior Inspector Manisha Kashid, the GRP team arrested five additional individuals from the Murshidabad district of West Bengal and two from Chakan in Pune rural, among them a woman identified as Shashikala Daudkar. The GRP team seized fake currency notes amounting to Rs 70,500.
