Nagpur is all set to host its inaugural Mango, Millet, and Grain Festival from May 16 to May 19, 2024, organized by the departmental office of the Maharashtra State Agriculture Production Board. The festival will take place at the prestigious Kusumtai Wankhede Building on North Ambazari Road.
The inauguration ceremony will be graced by Sanjay Kadam, the distinguished Executive Director of the Maharashtra State Agriculture Production Board. This announcement was made by Ajay Kadu, Director of the board, during a press conference held on Wednesday.
In alignment with the United Nations’ declaration of 2023 as the International Year of Pulses, Maharashtra launched the ‘Shri Anna Abhiyan,’ emphasizing the nutritional significance of pulses in diets. With the pulse production witnessing a significant surge and the entry of numerous new entrepreneurs, the festival aims to spotlight their offerings. These include individual producers, farmer saving groups, cooperative societies, farmer producer companies, and startup ventures.
Ajay Kadu emphasized the importance of promoting these producers’ products, raising consumer awareness, and establishing direct purchasing and market linkages. The festival will feature a diverse array of products such as sorghum, pearl millet, finger millet, barnyard millet, foxtail millet, lentils, chickpeas, green gram, and pigeon pea, offering attendees a glimpse into Maharashtra’s rich agricultural landscape.
Rajesh Sarote, Manager of the Nagpur departmental office, expressed his enthusiasm for the festival’s potential to invigorate the local agricultural community.
