Despite regulations prohibiting construction within 30 meters of the lake, the “Seven Wonders” project has been erected at Crazy Castle without permission. Now, the authorities are dismantling the construction. MLA Vikas Thackeray has called for recovering the wasted government funds from Mahametro officials.
In March 2018, the Maharashtra government’s Water Resources Department (Irrigation Department) had imposed a ban on development works within a 30-meter radius from the designated boundaries after amending the regulations. However, the “Seven Wonders” project is currently underway within this restricted zone. Despite the restriction, construction for the “Seven Wonders” project has commenced, with information about this ban already known to Mahametro officials since the initiation of metro railway corridor construction work in 2018. It has been demanded that the expenses incurred for this unauthorized project be recovered from the officials responsible for its implementation.
