The temperature started soaring in the Vidarbha region, despite brief spells of rain during the last week. Akola recorded a temperature of 45.5 degrees Celsius, which is the highest in the region. This was followed by Yavatmal, where the maximum temperature was at 43.5 degrees.
Nagpur recorded 41.9 degree Celsius. Due to cloudy weather, intermittent rains and humidity in the air made the heat very uncomfortable.
Amravati, Chandrapur, Brahmapuri, and Wardha recorded 43.2 degrees. The second and third weeks of May are considered the hottest in the region. The night temperatures, however, remained a bit low to grant relief to the residents of the region.
All the districts in the Vidarbha region have temperatures above 40 degrees. Gondia remained the coolest in the region with a maximum temperature of 40.4 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 25.4 degrees.
