Ahead of mansoon the cleaning of rivers and canals in the city is going on. Nag, Pili and Pohara rivers have been cleaned up to a total of 60 percent so far. The remaining work is planned to be completed by June 15.
Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Dr. Abhijit Chaudhari has directed to complete the work within the stipulated time, so that the flow of the river is not disrupted in any way during the monsoon season.
The river and canal cleaning campaign started from February, the cleaning of the three rivers of the city has gained momentum so far. In maximum silt is being removed with emphasis on deep cleaning of the river.
The length of Nag River is 16.58 km, the length of Pili River is 17.42 km and the length of Pohara River is 15.17 km. A total of 60 percent work has been done on these three rivers. In the cleaning of the three rivers, 93918.04 cubic meters of silt has been removed by 15 Poklanes. The target has been set to complete the cleaning of all three rivers of the city before June 15, 2024. Necessary machines and manpower have been made available for river cleaning work and special attention is being paid to completing the work within the stipulated time.
There are a total of 227 drains in Nagpur city, out of which 153 drains are cleaned by manpower and 74 drains are cleaned by machines. So far more than 170 drains have been cleaned.
