A very recent incident of a 3 old boy being mauled by stray dogs in Nagpur had brought Nagpur on every newspaper in the country; VTA has no words to express the feelings of the parents of this boy who was brought into this world after carrying IVF treatment.
Taking such issues in public interest, a delegation of Vidarbha Taxpayers Association (VTA) led by its president Shrawankumar Malu held discussion with Dr. Abhijeet Chaudhari, IAS – Municipal Commissioner NMC and submitted a memorandum.
Shrawankumar Malu said, NMC should take this issue on priority and restart the sterilization of stray dogs without leaving any portion of Nagpur. Even morning walk is almost impossible without a stick in hand to keep away the street dogs. They are not only attacking children, but also are the cause of many road accidents.
Many flyover, cement road and likewise infrastructure projects are being under construction within city limits; for the same many times roads are dug for cables or drains. Instead of repairing them completely, they are just filled with debris and thereby causing road unevenness due to which the traffic gets delayed.
Tejinder Singh Renu – secretary of VTA said, with monsoon on the doorsteps, unrepaired potholes and road cuttings need to be repaired before rains strike as they will get much deeper & will also become unrepairable during rains. As such road cuttings and potholes on major roads cause massive inconvenience and slow traffic drastically.
Likewise, the Futala Lake show and the infrastructure therein are pending before the Apex Court for appropriate orders, however this place still remains the most attractive place for the citizens and tourists especially early morning and evenings. Without any structural changes, the maintenance of the place can surely be carried out by NMC as the major attractive places are flooded with filth. Admittedly, we the citizens are responsible for such carelessness, however when tourists or citizens visit such a place, the bad name goes to our Nagpur and we can surely clean this place at least twice a week if not daily.
Municipal Commissioner Dr. Chaudhari said that NMC seriously wants to take sterilization of dogs on priority however need to listen to animal lovers too. Potholes repairs will be initiated very soon and cleaning of Futala will be taken on task soon. Also present in the VTA delegation were Amarjeet Singh Chawla and Rajesh Kanungo – Joint Secretaries.
