The Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court on rejected Ritika alias Ritu Dinesh Maloo plea for interim pre-arrest bail. her pre-arrest bail application was heard before Justice Abhay Mantri.
This incident took place on February 25 at around half midnight at Ramjhula near the railway station. Ritika was driving a Mercedes car in a drunken state at high speed. Meanwhile, her car went out of control and first hit the rampart of Ramzhula and then the car hit two young friends Mohammad Hussain Ghulam Mustafa and Mohammad Atif Mohammad Zia. As a result, both the youths were thrown far and got seriously injured. Citizens at the scene rushed them to the nearby Mayo Hospital. At that time, doctors declared Mohammad Hussain brought dead, while Mohammad Atif died during treatment.
The tehsil police booked Ritika against IPC sections 304 (culpable homicide), (279 negligent driving), 336 (endangering human life), 338 (causing grievous hurt), 427 (causing pecuniary loss) and Section 184 (speeding) of the Motor Vehicle Act. An FIR has been filed under IPC (driving under the influence of alcohol) and 185 (driving under the influence of alcohol). Ritika had initially filed an application in the sessions court seeking anticipatory bail. that application was rejected on 24 May. As a result, She approached the High Court. The next hearing on this matter has now been fixed on June 13. Meanwhile, the state government has been directed to file a reply on bail.
